The Rheumatology Center

Our Rheumatologists are specialist in the non-surgical treatiment of rheumatic illnesses, especially arthritis. Arthritis is a very common problem affecting people of all ages. Statistics report that 66 million people, nearly 1-in-3 adult Americans, are affected by arthritis or a related disease that affects the joints, muscles, ligaments, tendons and bones. Arthritis refers to more than 100 different diseases that affect areas in or around joints. Arthritis is one of the most prevalent chronic health problems and the nation’s leading cause of disability among Americans. These diseases can cause severe health impairment and their impact is usually reflected in restricted activity and loss of productivity.

The Orthopedic Institute’s Rheumatology Center was created to focus on the diagnosis and management of rheumatic conditions including osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, gout, lupus and osteoporosis. Our board-certified physicians provide a coordinated, comprehensive approach to each patient’s care. The Rheumatology Center’s physicians utilize conservative treatment approaches recommending physical therapy, joint and muscle strength training and weight management when appropriate. If surgery is necessary, our physicians are up-to-date on the latest medical technology and provide state-of-the-art procedures to minimize pain and restore function to patients’ lives.

Physicians at Orthopedic Institute believe education is vital to the positive outcome of any arthritis treatment plan. That’s why each physician at the Rheumatology Center is specially trained and dedicated to the research and treatment of rheumatic disease. They also will take the time needed with each patient, helping them gain understanding of the injury or disease and the treatment options available.
