Joel Frazier, M.D. Education & Certification
Dr. Frazier earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Chicago, Pritzker School of Medicine in 1985. Following his graduation from medical school, he went on to pursue training in general surgery and orthopedic surgery. His general surgery internship and residency was completed at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in 1987. In 1992, Dr. Frazier finished his orthopedic surgery residency at the Bronx-Lebanon Hospital Center in New York. At the New York University Medical Center, he underwent an additional year of training focusing exclusively on microsurgery and treating conditions of the hand, wrist and elbow. As a board-certified orthopedic surgeon and hand surgeon, Dr. Frazier specializes in hand, wrist and elbow surgery. With his extensive training and background, he is able to provide surgical and nonsurgical treatment for the entire spectrum of upper extremity conditions. His practice focuses on treating fractures, sports injuries, arthritis, carpal tunnel syndrome, tendonitis, sprains and strains of the arm and nerve problems in the upper extremity, as well as evaluating hand and arm pain. As a member of the Orthopedic Institute team, Dr. Frazier is committed to providing each patient with an individualized treatment plan in order to return function and enjoyment to everyday activities. In addition to practicing medicine, Dr. Frazier has served as Associate Professor of Clinical Orthopedics at the Ohio State University of seven years. During this time, he was also the hand consultant to the Ohio State University Athletic Department and the Columbus “Chill” minor league hockey team in Columbus, Ohio. When he is not practicing medicine, Dr. Frazier enjoys his German Shepherds show dogs, traveling, gardening and multiple outdoor activities. Dr. Frazier has received the Americas Top Orthopedists award for 2008 and 2009. He has also received the Patients Choice Award for 2009.
