Raul Romea, M.D. Education & Certification
Dr. Romea completed training in internal medicine as part of his residency at Medical College of Ohio, in Toledo, Ohio. In 1999, he went on to complete a two year-long Rheumatology Fellowship devoted to the evaluation, management and treatment of diseases that affect muscles, ligaments, tendons, joints, bones and the immune system. As a board-certified physician in internal medicine with subspecialty in rheumatology, Dr. Romea is specially trained to treat musculoskeletal pain, arthritis, and autoimmune diseases. He provides a variety of nonoperative treatments such as physical therapy, joint and muscle exercises, heat/cold therapies to help restore function to patients’ lives. He works with the other Orthopedic Institute physicians to develop the best individualized care plan for each patient. As a member of the Orthopedic Institute team, Dr. Romea is committed to providing arthritis treatment with individualized and compassionate care. Dr. Romea is also actively involved in research through the Health Research Institute, searching for better treatments for arthritis. He gives presentations on topics related to rheumatology. He also has interest in medical informatics and development and implementation of electronic medical records. When not practicing medicine, Dr. Romea enjoys running, biking, watching movies, his computer hobby and spending time with his family. Dr. Romea actively supports on-going research.
