The Total Joint / Sports Medicine Center at the Orthopedic Institute offers complete medical care to active people of any age and skill. When a joint causes pain, everything a patient does suffers…playing sports, carrying groceries, even the simple act of walking. Whether you receive an injury playing touch football, running track at school, or in the course of everyday activity, the treatment goal should be the same as for a professional athlete. Patients benefit from our staff of sports medicine trained physicians who specialize in the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of injuries due to athletic or life activities. Many of these disorders are treated with arthroscopic surgery, a minimally invasive surgical method that utilizes a camera to look inside a joint along with specialized instruments to carry out any necessary surgery in that joint. Other injuries may respond to physical therapy or perhaps require more advanced surgery such as joint replacement to promote optimum healing.
